Venom

Ahhhhh, the weather is a little cooler and I think we have some cool things to cover today! I'm excited about the new revamp/prequel reboot of 'Friday The 13th!' I also have some pics of my new BIG canvas as well as a vid! there is a reason I paint a lot of masked characters. Masks have always interested me. From the moment Jason dons his iconic hockey mask in part 3. That wonderful moment Michael attains his expresionless rubber mask from the hardware store before stalking Laurie and her friends in 'Halloween'. Jason Voorhees was going to be my new piece but decided to go another direction I've been wanting to go for a couple years. I feel like I will create another big piece with Jason but, wanted to work in a tighter color palette in prep for the Jason piece. First off, as per usual here are some quick sketch studies I worked out yesterday morning.
The inspiration for this piece comes from a tee-shirt I wore until it wanted to simply fall apart. I absolutely loved that shirt, and this is my homage to it. I worked out the gesture and comp with the sketches and even though I wanted to wait a bit, I launched into the studio, stoked to get this one going. I'm glad I did because like most artists will tell you, a great piece, song, or idea; paints, writes, or blossoms on its own. We are simply the pilots. I do apologize for the slightly grainy vid. I had to work with 720 in order to post the vid even after some edits. I am gathering quite a collection of paintings and was considering selling some at our local farmers market next summer. I'll keep ya posted on how that pans out. Alright, lets focus on horror films! There is a new short film coming out to the tune of about 13 minutes, celebrating the 13th film in the franchise. Need another hint? Yup, Friday The 13th is back on the radar and Jason looks cooler than ever in the new trailer from Horror Inc. studios. Check out the trailer here, From what I've read the studio has all the rights except.....the title. So, we get a thirteen minute film with a different name. I'll take it. This film is supposed to lead into a new show coming soon. A prequel to the events that fans are so damn familiar with. I do like that the kids in this new trailer don't have a backstory as that recipie has beena done to ....uh , death? Anyway, looks like the crazy old coot role has been taken over by a boomer probably up at the lake checking on his Air BnB. From the quick shots Jason looks pretty good, and I will be watching this short film and awaiting news on the prequels. I'm hoping to have a new post with a Venom update soon. Thanks for stopping by!
